How to Get a Thinner Face - Find Out How to Lose Face Fat Easily Without Having Any Surgery!

Do you want to get a thinner face? Do you dream about high cheekbones and a defined jaw line? Unfortunately, having a chubby face is something you can't hide. You can hide unattractive parts of your body with clothing, but there is no way to hide your face fat.

Many people are so desperate to get rid of face fat that decide to go through a surgical procedure called Facial liposuction. Unfortunately, this procedure involves too much risk and most people end up disappointed with the results, due to the scarring that usually occurs. In fact, studies show that about 42% patients report that they are unsatisfied with the results of Facial liposuction.

\"Facial Massage\"

So, is there actually a way to lose face fat naturally? The answer is yes! Here are a few simple tips you need to follow if you want to get a leaner face:

How to Get a Thinner Face - Find Out How to Lose Face Fat Easily Without Having Any Surgery!

  • Reduce your Alcohol Intake: drinking alcohol can make your face puffy. Alcohol leaves you dehydrated, and your body responds to dehydration by storing water in different areas, including your face.
  • Change your diet: the first thing you need to do is to avoid refined products. Stay away from white flour that is one of the biggest sources of empty calories, and white sugar that depletes your skin of moisture. You also need to avoid anything that contains caffeine, because it causes dehydration and prevents your body from flushing out the toxins. Additionally, drinking sodas will make you look and feel more bloated. It is also very important to cut back on your salt intake. What you need to do to get a leaner face, is to get more vitamin C, by adding some watermelon juice, lemons, broccoli, and strawberries in your diet.
  • Use a Facial massage: a proper facial massage (not just a gentle face rub), will help you achieve your goal. Like every other part of your body, your face has muscles that need some attention or they will lose their elasticity. Massage can give you a toned and leaner face. Of course, for this to work the massage should be quite vigorous. For better results, you can try mixing 2 tsp. of olive oil with 3 drops of lemon essential oil and massage this mixture over your face. Start at the chin and move upwards to the top of your forehead. This will tone your facial muscles and reduce water retention.

Now pay close attention to this: although the tips mentioned above can help you fight this problem, this is only a small part of the equation. If you really want to you're your chubby cheeks, get rid of double chin, and get sexy high cheekbones.

Ingrown Facial Hairs - Three Solutions

Ingrown facial hairs are especially distressing of course because they are so visible to others.

What are ingrown facial hairs?

Facial

They are hairs that have been broken or cut below the skin level which then grow out through the surrounding tissue rather than out through the hair follicle.

Ingrown Facial Hairs - Three Solutions

Depending on the severity of the condition the following choices are available for solving the problem.

Three Main Choices

1. For those wanting a permanent ingrown facial hairs solution, and who are prepared to pay the higher cost and invest the required time, electrolysis, laser treatment or epilight are viable options.

2. For an economical long term solution use the Ingrown Hair Treatment solution (see Resource box below). This can release trapped hairs and also with regular use after shaving prevent ingrown hairs from forming.

3. For occasional ingrown facial hairs tweezing is probably the best option.

Do not use ordinary tweezers to release the hair as there is the risk of taking out a chunk of the skin with it resulting in more skin irritation and damage. Needle-nose tweezers are best.

For ingrown hairs which are deep, sterilize a pair of needle-nosed tweezers with rubbing alcohol and individually lift each ingrown hair out of its follicle.

If needle-nosed tweezers are not available, wipe a pin or needle and the ingrown area with rubbing alcohol.

Then carefully release the hair in the direction that it grows using the tip of the needle only.

Never jab the needle into the skin.

After the hair is released, wipe the skin with alcohol again.

Additional suggestions for male ingrown facial hairs

Let the beard grow as the hairs will not grow back into the skin once they reach a certain length, or

Avoid shaving totally for 3 to 4 weeks until all lesions have subsided. Apply a mild cortisone cream available on prescription each morning, or

Shave every other day, rather than daily.

Shaving should be done with a sharp razor and if there is a tendency toward ingrown hair, try to minimize the number of times the blade passes over the skin and shave in the direction of the hair growth. (Some individuals can shave against the direction of hair growth to get a close shave without the risk of ingrown facial hairs. Each person is different as to hair texture and skin sensitivity and will need to experiment to see what works for them.)

Waxing, sugaring or tweezing should be done carefully so hair is not broken below the skin level.

By paying attention to the way facial hair is removed, the danger of ingrown facial hairs can be greatly minimized.

Eight Simple Steps To A Fantastic Home Facial

If you feel that your skin badly needs some deep cleansing and a little bit of reinvigorating, you can always have a facial. Actually, in order to maintain a supple, soft and youthful-looking face and neck, you need to undergo this treatment at least once a month, especially if you are over 30.

However, not many could afford a monthly trip to a salon, spa or dermatology clinic just to have their face prepped and cleaned. If you are one of these people who would want to have fabulous skin but do not want to pay a large sum for a facial treatment in a salon, spa or clinic, do not despair. You can actually have your treatment in the comforts of your own home.

Facial

Here is a step-by-step guide to an easy and effective home facial:

Eight Simple Steps To A Fantastic Home Facial

Step One: Cleanse

Any treatment that concerns the skin usually begins with getting off the grime, dirt and makeup on your skin. Thus, the first step to an effective facial is by applying a cleansing cream all over your face and neck. You must leave the product on your skin for at least two minutes to give it time to dissolve dirt, make up and oils. Then, just wipe your face with a clean cloth, cotton wool, or facial tissue.

Step Two: Exfoliate

To remove deep-seated dirt and dry skin cells, you need to moisten your skin with warm water and put on a facial scrub, particularly the ones with micro beads. Gently massage the product on your face. Just make sure that you avoid the delicate area surrounding your eyes. After a while, rinse off with tepid water.

Step Three: Steam

Place a basin of boiling water, preferably one kettleful, in front of you. Then, lean over the basin and cover your head with a towel so that the steam will directly reach your face. But do not lean too low because you do not want to burn your face in the process. Make sure that you stay in this position for about five minutes.

Hot steam will open up your pores. If you have problems with blackheads and whiteheads, you can actually try removing them by pressing affected areas with your fingers. Just make sure that your hands are clean and the areas to be squeezed are covered with strong tissue paper.

Step Four: Mask

Place a facial mask all over your face. Just follow the instructions on the back of the product that you are using. If you have oily face, it is advisable to choose an exfoliating or clay-based mask. If your skin is dry, what you need is a moisturizing mask; this will help your skin retain much-needed moisture on your face.

Step Five: Close Your Pores

When the mask feels taut and dry, you can now rinse it off completely. It is best to remove the product with warm water. Your pores tend to open up after being in contact with steam or warm water; to prevent dirt from entering your pores, you need to close them. To do this, splash your face with cool water, concentrating on the areas where your pores are quite large. Dry your skin with a soft towel.

Step Six: Tone

In order to refresh your skin and get rid of excess oil, apply a facial toner on areas that are prone to acne and other blemishes; put special attention to your nose, forehead and chin. If you have extremely dry skin, you can skip this step.

Step Seven: Treat Your Eyes

Apply a generous amount of eye cream or gel on the areas surrounding your eyes. Your eyes also need some attention whenever you are having a facial.

Step Eight: Moisturize

After the cleansing, rinsing, steaming and toning, your face is now ready to get moisturized. Thus, apply a good amount of moisturizer all over your face and neck. This is important in keeping your skin soft and supple and your complexion even. One moisturizer you can use, during your monthly facials or even during your daily beauty regimen, is Dermaxin. Facial Exercises To Tone Sagging Neck And Jowls

Facial exercises, when done properly can serve as a huge benefit to tone sagging neck and jowls.I prefer to call it the "double-chin" syndrome. It is one that can be easily corrected with the following exercises.

I highly recommend these three easy free face exercises to avoid double chin. If performed 3 times a week you will notice a difference after 1 week or so.

Facial

Exercise 1: Sit or stand upright and tilt your head to the ceiling while keeping your lips together but not forcing them closed. Start a chewing movement - you will feel the muscles working. Repeat the chewing movement 20 times. This is a good exercise to help rid you of a double chin.

Facial Exercises To Tone Sagging Neck And Jowls

Exercise 2: Sit upright and tilt your head looking to the ceiling while keeping your lips together but relaxed. Next move your lower lip over your top lip as far as possible and keep for a count of five. Return head to normal position and repeat exercise 10 times.

Exercise 3: Sit or stand upright and gently turn your head to the left, without dropping or lifting your chin. Turn your head until you feel a stretching sensation. Hold in this position for 5 counts and then gently move your head to the right hand side and keep for a count of 5. Repeat 3 times.

These are just a few of the more simpler, easier facial exercises to tone sagging neck and jowls and also to reduce double chin. There are some more intense facial exercises covered but I decided to illustrate these two easier ones so the beginner can see for themselves how effective and easy it is to get results with facial exercises!

Facial Tattoo Meanings

Tattoos have always had symbolic meaning both to the the wearer and to the society they live in. As tattooing has exploded in popularity much of the original tattoo symbolism has fallen by the way side. While many tattoo designs have completely lost there original meanings, facial tattooing has remained taboo. This has allowed its symbolism to remain mostly intact.

The tattooed tear drop under the eye dates back to at least the 1960's and it symbolism varies depending on the placement on the face and if the tear drop is filled in or empty. An empty tear drop most often symbolizes that the wearer has lost a loved one and they are permanently crying, but the empty tear drop can also symbolize a longing for revenge. If this revenge is carried out in the form of murder the tear drop tattoo is then filled in.

Facial

Also placed under the eye but with a less cryptic meaning is a dollar sign. The dollar sign symbolizes that money is all the wearer can see. The symbol began popping up around the early 1990's and is most often seen on southern gang members, though the tattoo has crossed over and several entertainers now wear it.

Facial Tattoo Meanings

A little known use for a cross tattoo design is to place it directly between the eyebrows on the bridge of the nose. This symbol, which started in New Orleans, symbolizes the wearer has committed at least five murders. Only worn by seasoned killers this tattoo design has not made the cross over into mainstream tattooing.

How To Tone Up Your Face Muscles

It's not only bottoms that benefit from an uplift...you can put a smile back on those droopy faces, too! Droopiness can be caused by sudden weight loss, worry, tension, or simply by growing older. But you can tone up sluggish facial muscles by exercising just as you exercise your body to keep it in trim. Try these for a tone-up!

  • FOREHEAD LIFT: Place your thumbs just in front of your ears, your forefingers on your forehead. Now push your scalp back. Try to push your scalp muscles back still further without helping with your fingers, using the muscles themselves to do all the work. Hold for a count of six and relax. Repeat ten times.
  • CHEEK LIFT: Place your first and second fingers underneath your cheekbones and press. Now smile against the pressure. Hold for a count of six and relax. Repeat five times.
  • EYE LIFT: Hold first and second fingers firmly at the outer corners of the eye. Close your eyes and blink hard, contracting the muscles around the eyes. Hold for a count of six and open eyes as wide as possible. Repeat five times.
  • JAW LIFT: Try to touch the end of your nose with your tongue--push hard, then relax. Now push the corners of your mouth down hard, hold for a count of six, then relax. Repeat both movements ten times each.

\"Facial Massage\"

Now try this uplifting massage that the stars enjoy at expensive beauty salons. Follow these steps:

  1. Cleanse face thoroughly. Then put a little nourishing cream on our fingertips. Using both hands, apply in firm upward strokes from collar bone to jawbone.
  2. Smooth fingertips from chin to ears, then nose to temples, using a gentle, flowing movement. Do the same from the bridge of the nose up between the eyes and over the forehead.
  3. Use forefingers only to pat gently under the eyes, from the outer corners, then the inner corners and outwards over the lids.
  4. Use the backs of the hands to pat firmly under the chin moving from ear to ear. Relax and let the cream sink in thoroughly before re-applying make-up.

Factors On What Causes Sinus Drainage

When you ask, "what causes sinus drainage," you almost certainly don't realize that you have sinus drainage every day, even when you are perfectly healthy. Your body produces up to one-half gallon of saliva and mucus every day in the lungs, nose, throat and sinuses. You swallow several times in a minute, so extrapolate that out for an entire day and you get a lot of drainage swallowed down the throat!

The reply to what causes sinus drainage is that normal everyday body functions cause it. You don't notice it when you are healthy for the reason that swallowing and occasional nose blowing is just a part of your every day activities. What you do notice though is when that drainage causes a sore throat or is so thick that it is hard to swallow. In some cases, an abnormal drainage of the sinuses might even cause an upset stomach.

\"Facial Massage\"

When you grumble with reference to sinus drainage, there could be a number of health conditions and environmental factors that can cause it. Some of the answers to what causes sinus drainage includes extreme temperature changes, gastroesophageal reflux (GERD), exposure to allergens such as pollen or dust, and even colds and flu.

Factors On What Causes Sinus Drainage

Because sinus drainage is part of our daily life and it is normal, some of the conditions above answers what causes sinus drainage of the abnormal variety. When you contract a bacterial infection or even a viral infection like a cold, your normal sinus drainage areas become clogged or so gunned up with mucus discharge that the only thing coming out is thick, discolored and sometimes even foul-smelling.

There are a number of choices in over the counter medications that can be taken and the best option is a decongestant, and you can find these in combination with a pain reliever or alone. The best decongestant is known as pseudoephedrine, but it is important to read the label warning carefully and talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any concerns about medical conditions your might have or medications that you are currently taking. If these decongestants do not offer adequate sinus drainage, you can add a decongestant nasal spray like Afrin. Just be sure that you do not use a spray for longer than four days, since long term use can result in a rebounding of your nasal congestion.

While antihistamines are an efficient means of treating seasonal or chronic allergy symptoms, they are not necessarily the best choice in dealing with sinus drainage from a cold or flu. The explanation is that these medications can actually thicken the mucus, inhibiting sinus drainage and possibly leading to an infection. Some of the newer antihistamines on the market today, like Claritin, although it will not thicken the mucus but it will also not effectively promote sinus drainage.

There is also such a thing as massage to help stop sinus drainage. You can try giving yourself a sinus relief massage, Ensure that your hands are at least room temperature. Starting at the center of your forehead and move your fingertips in tiny circles to the temples. Move to the bridge of your nose and massage the same way across your cheeks. Use the same method to massage your jaw line from your ears to your chin.

You can also incorporate acupressure into your facial massage to help stop sinus drainage. This is where you push specific parts of your face for a certain length of time. Acupressure techniques to stop sinus drainage are difficult to accurately explain with just words. Luckily, there are many acupressure techniques to help you stop sinus drainage in books, web sites and instructional DVDs. You can also get it done professionally if you prefer, usually by practitioners of Chinese Medicine or acupuncturists.

What causes sinus drainage owing to allergies and environmental factors could be greatly aided by proper hydration. Many times, you may not be drinking enough fluids to thin out your mucosal secretions which can cause abnormal sinus drainage. Just by drinking plenty of fluids (barring the dehydrating alcohol and caffeine) you can greatly reduce the factor of what causes sinus drainage.

A Link between Sinus Drainage and Diarrhea

There are two different ends in this equation, literally, and both typically deal with bacteria and medication. Diarrhea can be responsible on a number of culprits such as viruses, food intolerances, parasites, intestinal problems, medicine interactions and of course, bacterial infections usually due to contaminated food or water.

Sinus drainage normally occurs in the back of the throat and is the result of some type of infection like bacteria preventing normal drainage from the sinus cavities. When an infection occurs, the drainage makes your throat painful. When there is a difficulty with normal sinus drainage, a medication like antibiotics typically is prescribed to combat the bacterial infection.

Microorganisms causes diarrhea and also causes sinus infections which affect sinus drainage. In conditions of medication, not following the prescribed directions can cause diarrhea. In addition, too much sinus drainage has been known to cause upset stomach and diarrhea as well.

When antibiotics are given for a sinus infection caused by bacteria, the antibiotics do clear up the infection in the sinuses but they also rob your intestinal tract of the "good bacteria" that is essential for digestion. As a result, diarrhea can occur. BAM - it's another sinus drainage and diarrhea tie-in between these two seemingly dissimilar health issues.

Safe Alternative To Vaniqa For Facial Hair Removal

Is there a safe alternative to Vaniqa cream for women wanting to do something about unwanted facial hair?

Yes there is! In fact, this alternative to Vaniqa was on the market some years before Vaniqa was finally approved by the FDA (Food And Drug Administration) for public distribution on prescription in the year 2000.

Facial

In the early 1990's a lesser known company operating near Toronto in Canada by the name of Nisim International was carrying out extensive research in its laboratories for a natural herbal solution to hair loss.

Safe Alternative To Vaniqa For Facial Hair Removal

In 1993 they released the NewHair Biofactors range which consisted of deep cleansing shampoos and a hair growth stimulator made from natural herbs. It received a positive write up in the Medical Post of 1993 and the article listed some impressive success results from the clinical trials. (See http://www.4-hair-loss-solutions.com/baldness-medical-post.html for the full text of the article)

In the course of this research the folks at Nisim stumbled on a way to not only stop hair loss and get hair to regrow, they also found a way to stop unwanted hair from growing by interrupting the mechanism for hair growth in the hair follicle.

This led to the release of Kalo Hair Growth Inhibitor in 1997, some years before Vaniqa arrived on the scene.

Vaniqa And Kalo Compared

There are some main differences between this alternative to Vaniqa and Vaniqa cream. For one thing, Kalo can be used by men, women and children whereas Vaniqa is only for women and girls under the age of 12 are recommended not to use it.

Vaniqa is available on prescription only, Kalo is a non-prescription hair growth inhibitor.

Some may raise a question over Kalo being a viable alternative to Vaniqa because it is not FDA approved. While that is true it is important to understand the process of FDA approval.

Vaniqa was brought to the market by two powerful giants in the personal care industry, Bristol-Myer Squibb and The Gillette Company. Will millions of dollars available they put up the necessary funding to get Vaniqa through the many years of tests and trials necessary before the FDA gives approval.

The final clinical trial results showed that 58% of women who used Vaniqa found a reduction in hair growth. That means a fairly large percentage did not see any difference.

The alternative to Vaniqa, Kalo, is produced by a small company without the massive resources available to the major pharmaceuticals. They also rely on word of mouth instead of pouring large sums into advertising. As a result, Kalo has grown in popularity and since the appearance of Vaniqa on the personal care scene, it has proven to be a viable non-prescription alternative to Vaniqa cream.

Reasonable Expectations

As with Vaniqa, Kalo doesn't work for everyone. That's why the company offers a money back guarantee. Given the rate of returns and refunds however, no more than about 1%, it is evident the majority of users are satisfied to a degree.

Finding an ideal method of facial hair removal is a matter of experimentation for many women before settling on the method that suits their pocket, skin sensitivity and lifestyle.

Combining the use of Vaniqa cream, or an alternative to Vaniqa such as Kalo, has helped thousands of women make facial hair removal sessions much easier and more convenient!

Coffee Facial Mask for Clear Skin

I've recently gotten into the caffeine craze. Remember, caffeine has been indicted to the skincare hall of fame. Naturally, I just had to play around with it. And so, I've come up with this wonderfully scrumptious facial mask. It works wonders on my skin. I can really see the difference after the mask. My skin actually glows and it was baby smooth to the touch. Absolutely delightful!! Plus the aromatic coffee scent lingers long after the mask is removed. Another plus point, you're actually using used finely ground coffee, simply collect the used coffee after your morning coffee.

Ingredients

Facial

3 tablespoons of used finely ground coffee

Coffee Facial Mask for Clear Skin

A small glass of milk

Directions

1) Add the used finely ground coffee into a bowl. Stir in milk until it achieves a think texture. Mix the ingredients till well blended. Try not to make the paste too diluted or it'll be runny and it's gonna be messy during application. If mixture becomes too runny, simply add a little more coffee into it.

2) When ready, apply the paste onto your face and neck and smooth it out all over your face. Avoid eyes and lips.

3) Slowly massage the mixture to your skin and relax for 20 mins.

4) While washing off the mask, slowly massage the paste to your skin. It acts further as an exfoliator. Don't massage too hard if you have sensitive skin

5) Pat dry face and apply moisturizer while skin is still damp to seal in moisture

Try it, you won't regret it. Remember not to scrub your skin too hard with the coffee grounds though.

7 Steps to a Beautiful Radiant Face

We all know by now, to achieve beautiful skin, we need a skin regime. Cleanse, tone and moisturize. Sometimes we use a facial mask, or exfoliaters to bring out the best in our skin.

BUT, there is also something very important that we need to do but we always tend to neglect. What is it?

\"Facial Massage\"

MASSAGE of course. This facial massage is helpful in promoting blood circulation, draining toxins from the face and stimulating the production of collagen under your skin. Bonus is, it also helps to stimulate some acupressure points along the face. Here is a step by step guide for a more beautiful face:

7 Steps to a Beautiful Radiant Face

1) Gently pinch your eyebrows between your thumb and your index fingers. Pinch your eyebrows along from the beginning of your brow till the end. Do it for about 30 times or more if you like. This helps to elevate stress at your eye areas.

2) Apply some pressure by pressing along the entire eyebrow with your index fingers. Repeat this for about 30 times. Steps 1 and 2 helps to reduce dark eye circles too.

3) Lightly pinch the little area between your eyes. Don't press too hard or you will have a stubborn red mark there. The skin here is very sensitive to the touch. This helps to destress tired eyes especially. You can repeat it for about 10-15 times.

4) Make little circular motions on your temples lightly. Let the circular motions be directed outwards, moving from the insides of your temples which are nearest to the eyes towards your hairline each time. Repeat the circular motions for about 30 times to relief stress, the blues and headaches.

5) Slightly part your mouth like you're saying 'O' then press lightly on the cheeks. Repeat this for 30 times and this helps to stimulate collagen production to keep cheeks uplifted and firm.

6) From the sides of the nose, sweep the face in outward strokes with your fingers. Repeat this for about 30 times too. Make the strokes upwards from the sides of your nose towards the cheekbones gently and dont overpull the skin. This helps to drain toxins and water retention. Also, it helps to elevate sinus blockage. For further sinus relief, lightly rub the areas at the sides of the nose.

7) Run your fingers by applying slight pressure along your entire jawline, starting from your chin till your ears. Repeat for about 30 times. This helps to release stress along the jawline. We are usually unaware of how much tension we apply to the jawline as sometimes we tend to clench our teeth unknowingly.

Of course, no beautiful face is complete without the right attitude. Learn how pull off the right attitude at [http://beauty-tyrant.blogspot.com/2006/12/tips-to-be-beautiful-and-glamorous.html]

So, just spend a little as 5 minutes everyday to have that beautiful envious radiant skin, without involving any pain nor money in your pursuit of beauty.

Facial Steps - How to Do a Home Facial For Dry, Normal and Oily Skin

Knowing how to do a home facial using your favorite homemade facial recipes is a brilliant way of giving your skin a quick pick-me-up, to exercise it by activating circulation and for bringing nutrients and oxygen to the surface. You can do a home facial using homemade face masks or you can do a steam facial. Nearly all face masks contain a high percentage of water; the rapid evaporation that follows application causes them to be cooling, soothing and contracting. Doing a home facial is an excellent way to pamper yourself, relax, and improve your complexion.

Follow these professional steps to do a home facial, it takes about half an hour.

Facial

Step 1 Smooth your hair away from your face and neck, tie or clip it back out of the way.

Facial Steps - How to Do a Home Facial For Dry, Normal and Oily Skin

Step 2 Apply a cleanser using skin contouring motions (see below):

Neck: use long alternating strokes from your collar bone to jaw line.
Cheeks: from the centre line, smooth upward and outward from your chin to your ears, nose to temples; stroke your nose bridge downwards and the sides outwards.
Forehead: stroke upward, in high arcs to your hairline.
Eyes: using one tip, finger pat, starting in the centre between your eyes, making a semi-circle going outward both above and below your eyes.

Step 3 Tissue or rinse off depending on cleanser.

Step 4 With a cotton wool pad, apply your toner to remove last traces of the cleanser.

Step 5 Dot a light moisturizer on your forehead, cheeks and chin; blend in.

Step 6 Rinse with clear lukewarm water.

Step 7 Apply a mask all over your face and throat; leave a free circle around your tender eye area.

Step 8 Cover your eyes with cotton wool pads soaked in milk or a non-alcoholic freshener. Leave the mask on and relax lying down for 20 minutes.

Step 9 After 20 minutes remove all traces of the mask, blot your face and throat with a towel; finish off with a thin film of moisturizer.

Homemade Facial Recipes

You can use the following natural homemade facial recipes when do a home facial; leave them on for a minimum of 20 minutes, and then thoroughly rinse off with clean lukewarm water.

Crushed strawberries: use them alone or mixed with oatmeal.
Ripened pears: give an astringent action to oily skin.
Cabbage leaves: apply the juice from a few green cabbage leaves.
Cucumber mask: grind or mash enough to cover your face; this is refreshing.
Honey mask: 2 tablespoons of honey and ½ teaspoon of lemon juice or cider vinegar.
Brewers' yeast facial: 1 teaspoon of powdered yeast and 2 teaspoons of warm water; adjust consistency so it spreads like a paste.
The beaten white of an egg - with the optional addition of ¼ teaspoon of lemon juice or cider vinegar; good for oily or balanced skin.
Another version of an egg-white facial is to beat it with a tablespoon of skimmed milk.
Mix an egg yolk, a few drops of cider vinegar and a little vegetable oil; good for dry skin.

Steam Facial

You will find giving yourself a steam facial is stimulating. Steam encourages the pores to push out dirt and impurities; it promotes perspiration and stimulates circulation.

If you have sensitive skin or broken veins do not be tempted to do a home facial without seeking advice from a professional first.

Steaming with herb infusions is most beneficial. Pour boiling water over herbs in a bowl; make a towel into a head tent and steam your face over the bowl for 10 minutes. Blot your skin dry, tone, then moisturize.

The following herbs cans be used individually when you do a home facial or combined for your homemade steam facial:

For cleansing, soothing: camomile, lady's mantle, nettle, rosemary, thyme.
For tightening: peppermint, elderflower, tincture of benzoin, gum arabic.
For drying: yarrow.
For healing: leek, comfrey, fennel.

When the mask is taken off, you will notice the blood vessels have expanded and your skin looks rosier; fluid from the enlarged blood vessels plumps up the inner layer, smoothing the skin and compressing the pores.

There will be a definite improvement in the appearance of your skin, and although this 'mask effect' is temporary, the skin is exercised and stimulated.

Experiment with different facial masks to find which suits your skin the best.

Be warned though; don't do a home facial using a mask you haven't tried just before a major event such as your wedding or an important date. The action of the mask will bring all the impurities in your skin to the surface. This could mean you will have a mild breakout for a few days.

If you have oily skin you need to use a mask twice a week, if you have dry or normal skin, you only need to do a home facial once a week.

Facial Hair in Women - What Can You Do About It?

Facial hair growth in women is something that many of us find concerning. Assuming that you are not genetically inclined to facial air (Mediterranean, Jewish and Eastern European ancestry) or have a family history of facial hair growth in women), it could be a number of things.

One of the most common is hormonal imbalance. Women have both estrogens and androgens (male hormones). As we age, the levels of both hormones naturally decline. However, the ratio between the differences declines and it can look as if we suddenly have more of the male hormones, and therefore stray hairs. In addition, there are some medications that can stimulate the growth of stray, darker, coarser hair such as phenytoin, cyclosporine, anabolic steroids, combination medications with testosterone such as estratest, and minoxidil (used for high blood pressure as well as baldness in men).

Facial

Sometimes though, excessive facial/body hair can be a result of physical and medical issues. For example, polycystic ovarian syndrome and obesity (adipose tissue can produce androgens). Occasionally it can be related to adrenal tumors. In these cases one will see more than just the occasional stray hair on the face. If this is happening to you, see your health care provider.

Facial Hair in Women - What Can You Do About It?

So what can do you about it? Women have been looking for ways to permanently remove hair for years. There does not seem to be an easy fool-proof permanent way to deal with facial hair.

Treatments include:

  • Makeup Radio frequency
  • Hormones (estrogen and progesterone)
  • Shaving
  • Waxing
  • Laser
  • Electrolysis
  • Medications - Vaniqua - a prescription cream

According to many dermatologists, electrolysis seems to be the only method for permanent removal. Vaniqua, which is relatively new in the past few years does not seem to work for all women. The long term effectiveness is unknown at this time.

As with most things, there does not seem to be a one-size-fits-all solution to the problem of the stray facial hair. You will most likely need to try various treatments and see what works for you. However, keep in mind if the hair seems excessive or you have concerns, please speak with your health care provider for further evaluation.

Does Collagen Facial Cream Really Work?

Before you buy a collagen facial cream, let me give you a little advice. If you believe the advertising hype, collagen creams will reduce wrinkles, increase firmness and make you look younger. But, how or why would they work?

There are five layers of epidermis and two layers of dermis that make up the skin. Constant cellular activity goes on in these layers. Below those seven layers is subcutaneous tissue containing fat, which often becomes thinner with age. But, it is the health of the epidermis that we are primarily concerned with, when it comes to our appearance and the question is, does a collagen facial cream support it.

Facial

95% of the cells in the epidermis are composed of keratin proteins. The other five percent serve various functions, including fighting infection. None of the cells of the epidermis are composed of collagens. Those proteins are only found in the dermis of the skin.

Does Collagen Facial Cream Really Work?

Collagen creams are basically gelatin. You may recall a time when eating gelatin was recommended to strengthen the fingernails or improve the appearance of the skin. Dietary supplements containing collagens derived from chicken bones and other sources are promoted for the same purpose, as well as improving the function of the joints.

If you had a protein deficiency, then they might help. But, generally speaking, taking those supplements has never been shown to provide any health benefit. Applying collagen creams is much the same thing.

Any "change" that you see in your appearance is strictly cosmetic. Collagen facial cream might make you look better for a short period of time, but even that benefit is questionable.

Most of the companies that do include the protein in their lotions only include a very small amount. The majority of the product is composed of water combined with petrolatum, glycerin, mineral oil or some other "oily" solution. You can see this when you read an ingredients label.

The ingredients are listed in descending order, from the highest concentration to the lowest, unless there is an ingredient that is considered an active pharmaceutical. Then it, as well as the percentage found in the concentration, will be at the top of the list.

When you read the labels for collagen creams, you will see that the protein is listed far down on the list. In one of the popular brands, it is the 24th ingredient, far behind all of the artificial preservatives and petrochemicals.

A good alternative to a collagen facial cream is one that contains Functional Keratin, which has been shown to stimulate the production of new cells, replenishing those that have been lost to time. Collagen creams do not contain the nutrients necessary to stimulate the production of cells, or anything else.

They cannot make the fibers lie in the dermis stronger. They can only make your face look shiny. Basically, buying collagen facial cream is not your best choice for wrinkle reduction, improved firmness or delaying the signs of getting older. Luckily, we have options. Please take a look at my website now.

Can You Get Rid of Nasolabial Folds?

As we age, many changes take place to our faces, including the development of the NL fold. The reasons for most NL folds is threefold: One, the malar (cheek) fat pads tend to move downwards and inwards- some say under the influence of gravity, and others blame the general breakdown of supportive structures such as collagen and elastin. Shrinkage of the facial bones may also be a factor. In women whose upper palate is small, and therefore doesn't "push out" the soft tissues that overlie it, may also have deeper folds. Breakdown of the skin's support structures, whether or not one's malar pads have descended, results in NL creases that resemble parenthesis lines (as opposed to deeper clefts). Sleeping on one's tummy or side, with the face scrunched into the pillow, or simply resting against it can also worsen folds. This is why one fold is often deeper than the other, depending on which side we sleep.

Cosmetic surgeons will tell you that even a mid face-lift will do little to improve the NL area -at least for the long term. There may be a slight and temporary lifting of the area, but the malar fat pad will soon move downwards and inwards again. Some surgeons are injecting fat into the area during a face lift but, again, this fat tends to be resorbed over a matter of weeks. Another option is an ePTFE (non reactive) implant. These are tubular and generally inserted through two small cuts made in the NL area

\"Facial Massage\"

How we treat the NL fold in order to improve its appearance depends very much on what has caused the fold. In the case of a deep cleft, dermal fillers are a guaranteed way to see improvement, coupled with facial exercises that elevate the zygomaticus muscles, drawing up the malar cheek pad. (Some women have reported a worsening of the fold after doing facial exercises, but this effect generally reverses shortly after they stop. If you have NL folds, I would also avoid the exercises that engage the orbicularis oris muscle, as this can build up fast, in doing so, causing the outer upper lip area to stand out similar to that of a monkey.)

Can You Get Rid of Nasolabial Folds?

Women with more of a line or wrinkle in the NL area (parenthesis lines) are somewhat luckier as using a skin cream with targeted active ingredients can reduce early-stage lines. Active ingredients that work include peptides and Retin-A. Don't be afraid to really work the product into the fold by massaging upwards using a firm touch. Despite what many dermatologists might tell you, facial massage does not worsen wrinkles or parenthesis lines.

Some women have reported that using a skin roller (a gadget that resembles a miniature paint-roller with short needles sticking out from it) in the NL area has helped reduce the fold. This is quite likely since, if the spikes penetrate deep enough, the gadget behaves somewhat like a fractional laser, causing channels of damage that fill in with fresh collagen. The attraction of lymph to the damaged area will also cause a temporary improvement in the folds.
Recently, threads on unsponsored skincare forums have been touting the use of "green foods" to reduce nasolabial folds. While evidence is purely anecdotal, enough women have seen a difference to warrant further investigation. It is possible that a shift in internal pH caused by the ingestion of alkaline-causing green drinks helps reduce sagging in general. The weight loss that often accompanies the taking of greens drinks may also contribute to the "shrinking" of the malar fat pad and therefore its impact on deeper, cleft-like folds.

Here are the most effective ways to reduce nasolabial folds:

1. If you have clefts as opposed to parenthesis lines, do try facial exercise. There are a number of reputable programs available for download.
2. Don't over-exfoliate. Every layer of the epidermis has its function. Over-exfoliating-exfoliating may cause a thinned epidermis that provides less of a "girdle" effect, i.e. less tautness.
3. Use a skin cream that contains actives such as peptides (to increase cellular communication) and collagen boosters. Be careful of drugstore creams as they rarely contain enough active ingredient to really impact the skin.
4. Consider a dermal filler (injectable) Start with a temporary filler, as you want to make sure you like the result before having a semi-permanent or permanent filler.
5. If you are fine with the thought of ePFTE in your body, and have done your "due diligence" consider a tubular implant.
6. If your folds are not the deep line variety, use a lighter concealer within them, covered by a light-reflecting makeup. (Not a shimmery base as this will emphasize them.) A department store cosmetic consultant for any of the major brands will be able to point you to a light-reflecting makeup.
7. Some women are claiming a facial exercise/muscle stimulating works to lessen the folds. Also, a few report that an amber light device has helped.

Aestheticians - Who Are They and What Do They Do

Aestheticians, also spelled estheticians, are skin care specialists. They are not dermatologists nor any type of doctor, by any means. Aesthetician is pronounced "es-thi-tish-uhn," and is derived from the word aesthetic, whose root is a Greek word meaning "to perceive, to feel" (from the Online Etymology Dictionary). Now, aesthetic seems to refer to a sense of the beautiful, or a sense of what is pleasing.

So, what does an aesthetician do?

\"Facial Massage\"

Have you ever wondered if there was a better kind of makeup for your skin type? Have you ever questioned what condition your skin was in, and if you were buying the right kind of moisturizer and toner? An aesthetician does all that and more. Not only can he/she tell you what condition your skin is in, but also how to improve it. Usually, a certified aesthetician has access to products that you cannot find at other beauty stores. Laws regarding aestheticians are still in a state of flux and vary buy state, though there are some federal guidelines. Here are some other things an aesthetician may be able to help you with depending on your own state regulations:

Aestheticians - Who Are They and What Do They Do

Skin Treatments

An aesthetician is trained to handle facial massages in a way to improve your skin's appearance, to relieve stress, and to just feel good. If you have never had a facial massage, it is a great experience! Also, an aesthetician has learned about chemical exfoliation and how to administer it in a healthy way. Aestheticians also must learn about common plastic surgical procedures in order to understand how to follow up. Some learn about manual lymph drainage for this purpose, but I do not know how common it is in the United States.

Body Treatments

Again, this includes chemical exfoliation, but also includes body masks and body wraps. Some body wraps are dehydrating, explaining the loss of water weight afterward. Your aesthetician should know about the different kinds, and know how to prepare you for it healthily, advising you to drink plenty of water beforehand, etc. Another skill that aestheticians acquire is on hydrotherapy. This includes foot baths and arm baths, as well as douches. A douche is a steady stream of water applied in a certain pattern over a part of the body. This works much like a massage in that it pinpoints specific areas to relieve stress and muscle pain.

Hair Removal

Any body can tweeze their eyebrows, but not many of us are trained to know how to shape our eyebrows so that they complement our face. Many times we know what we don't want our eyebrows to look like, though we don't know what we do want them to. An aesthetician is trained to be able to analyze your face shape and your eyebrow arch to come out with the best possible combination. While she is not trained to administer electrolysis or laser hair removal, she should know enough about it to be able to answer your questions.

It is also important to know what an aesthetician is not certified to do, so that you can protect yourself. They are not to puncture or wound the skin in any way that may draw blood. This includes popping a closed zit. Also, they are not to provide you with any advice concerning the treatment of medical diseases.

Aestheticians are there to give advice on what is cosmetically appealing in general, but it is your job to know what you like. Also, it is important for you to watch carefully to make sure they are following basic sanitary guidelines. Aestheticians are great resources when exploring the world of skin care, having been trained and then possibly having gone through an apprenticeship, much like the way electricians are certified. They know the products and can help you figure out what is right for you.

Sleep Apnea Oxygen Mask

One of the most effective treatments for obstructive sleep apnea is the use of a CPAP, BiPAP, or APAP machine to force the airway to remain open and reduce apnea caused by collapsing tissue in the throat. This is achieved by forcing pressurized air down the airway to allow the patient to breathe easier in the event that tissue begins to obstruct the airway. This pressurized air is delivered through some form of mask or other apparatus that directs the pressurized air into the nose or mouth.

There are many different interfaces that allow this to occur, and choosing one that best suits you is critical to maximizing the effectiveness of the treatment. An uncomfortable interface can reduce the patient's ability to sleep peacefully, countering any positive effects the machine may be providing. Therefore, great consideration she be had when choosing an oxygen mask.

\"face Mask\"

Before you choose your sleep apnea oxygen mask, it is important to be informed about the mask you plan on purchasing. Most oxygen masks are triangular and made of a synthetic material such as plastic or rubber. The masks use various sealing methods, such as a soft foam or rubber gasket to form the seal with the face.

Masks come in varying sizes to accommodate a wide variety of customers, and to ensure that each patient receives a mask that can fit the contours of their face. Most sleep apnea oxygen masks have straps that encircle the head and under the chin to ensure a tight seal and to prevent slipping during the night.

Sleep apnea oxygen masks may cover the nose or both the nose and the mouth, depending on the need of the patient. Those patients who have problems breathing only though their nose may require an oxygen mask that covers the mouth as well, as breathing unpressurized air through the mouth will result in less effective treatment. Patients who have excessive amounts of facial hair may find that the seal is unable to form due to the interference from their facial hair. In this instance, it may be recommended that the patient find an alternative to using a face mask, such as using nasal pillows.

Nasal pillows allow the user to forgo the use of headgear in favor of two inserts that form the seal in the nostrils. While this is an effective way to counter facial hair as well as feelings of claustrophobia caused by the face masks, the seal formed is weaker due to the lack of straps, and therefore more apt to break at higher pressures.

Regardless of which type of sleep apnea oxygen mask you choose to utilize in conjunction with your machine, keep in mind that any discomforts can likely be eliminated by switching to another mask. Do not be afraid to try many masks before settling for a particular one, as the oxygen mask is too important a component to compromise with. Make sure that the mask you pick is satisfactory in meeting your wants and needs, as well as functional to your particular situation.

Honey and Skin Care Favourite Tips!

I would like to share with you some honey and skin care knowledge, one of the most popular topics amongst the female honey fans, before you spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on all those anti-wrinkle and moisturising creams. Try some easy, home-made tonic and remedy with honey first. And remember, the main ingredient in all those costly skin care products in the store could be honey!

Really, there is no simpler way to bring a smooth glow to your skin than with honey beauty recipes. Honey's ability to absorb and retain moisture make it an ideal ingredient in a lot of cosmetics as it helps keep skin hydrated and fresh and prevents drying. It is known that ancient beauties regularly applied a mixture of honey and milk to the face to keep the skin young-looking, radiant, and smooth.

\"face Mask\"

Honey's natural antioxidant and anti-microbial properties help to protect the skin from the damage of the sun's rays, supports the skin's ability to rejuvenate and refresh depleted skin, leaving it feeling silky soft and supple. One of the most common skin benefits of honey is related to minor acne treatment. Honey absorbs impurities from the pores on the skin, making it an ideal cleansing agent. With the wide-ranging of honey and skin care recipes, it is no wonder that there exists a huge number of honey products in the market for hair care, baby care, skin care for sunscreen, hand lotions, facial scrubs and moisturizers. And for instance, the Manuka Honey Lip Balm is an effective and natural moisturiser. It contains sun protection properties to soothe and protect the lips from becoming dry and chapped in cold and dry weather.

Homemade Wrinkle Removers That Work

Although there are many quality wrinkle remover creams out on the market, don't be fooled into thinking that there aren't natural wrinkle treatments out there too -- because there are. As a matter of fact, you can probably create your very own homemade wrinkle removers with things found around your home.

Here Are A Few Natural Ways To Get Rid Of Wrinkles

\"face Mask\"

Honey is one of the best home made wrinkle removers available. All you have to do is thinly spread the honey onto your face and leave it there for about 25-30 minutes. Once the time elapses, wash away the honey with warm water and then gently rub an ice cube all over your face -- more specifically, rub the ice cube on the places where the honey was applied. An important thing to remember before starting this home wrinkle remedy is to wash your face with warm, borderline hot, water. This allows the pores in your skin to open up, thereby increasing the effectiveness of the honey.

Bananas can be used to make a very effective, natural anti-wrinkle cream. Simply mash up a banana or two until the banana(s) becomes cream like -- this shouldn't take long. Once it is in a creamy form, apply it liberally to your entire face. Let it sit for around 30 minutes and then rinse it away with warm water. Pat dry your skin; do not rub dry it.

When it comes to natural wrinkle removal, it doesn't get much easier than coconut oil. Just rub warm coconut oil into your skin each night and continue the process for as long as you want to keep wrinkles away -- That's it.

Pineapple is another great homemade wrinkle remover. Begin by cutting out the core of the pineapple. Once removed, take the core and gently rub it on your face, making sure you get all the problem areas; around the mouth, under & around the eyes, etc. Leave the thin layer of pineapple juice on your face for about 20 minutes, then you can wash it off with warm or cold water.

As you can see, you have plenty of options when it comes to choosing homemade wrinkle removers. Does that mean you should forsake all other anti wrinkle cream products? Of course not, as that would be foolish. In actuality, it simply means you don't have to rely wholeheartedly on department store wrinkle cream any longer.

Papaya For Skin Care - Can Papaya Be Used For Skin Lightening?

Papaya contains a natural enzyme called papain that has several benefits for the skin. When used on the skin, papain works to gently exfoliate and dissolve dead skin cells to bring new skin cells to the surface and reveal a healthy complexion. Because of these skin renewal properties, papaya can fade dark marks, even skin tone and is a natural ingredient that is often found in skin lightening products.

Papaya is originally from Central and South America but can now be found in the tropical climates of Africa, Southeast Asia and the Caribbean. When ripe, papaya is orange in colour but the green flesh of the unripe fruit contains a lot more of the papain enzyme.

\"face Mask\"

Breaking down dead skin cells is essential to skin whitening. As papaya helps to speed up the skin cell renewal process, it can help to lighten the complexion. However, papaya does not have any melanin inhibiting properties so will not cause drastic skin lightening. It is ideal for fading dark marks and skin brightening in general.

To benefit from the lightening effects of papaya, you can use papaya soap twice a day and will see an effect after a few months of consistent use. Using the flesh of the fruit as a face mask 2-3 times a week will also remove dead skin and lighten the complexion.

Both the fruit itself and the soap are easily available and inexpensive. When looking for natural skin lightening agents, papaya based products are popular because they are so mild on the skin but effective.

Papaya is not only great for fading dark marks and evening skin tone. The many other great properties include treating acne, burns, stings, rashes, anti-aging and it tastes great too!
